___________

Principles for Servant Leader:
  1.  be humble
  2. be a follower first
  3. find greatness in serving
  4. take risks in the Lord
  5. take the towel (as the Lord did, to wash the feet of his disciple-friends)
  6. share authority. (whenever newly inspired by the Spirit, share the idea/plan with a team member, team..pray, think, pray, think...together...so that when its ready, the anointed plan has gone through a fine sieve, filtered and refined. a way of looking at this could be- the lord entrusted the keys of Church with one of his 'weak' disciples....)
_____________
Intimacy: A heart that seeks the will of the Lord
  • the Evangelist John,in his gospel writes "..the disciple whom /the Lord loved the most..." but we know that the Lord is unlikely to be partial like this...but the point to note here is that however the Lord loved, John perceived that he was loved the most
  • the woman who wanted to touch the fringe of Lord's cloak to be healed of her 38 yr old bleeding- even in that crowd, Jesus sought to know her personally, intimately (not because he lacked the information but)... to let her know...in a way that she understands she is being looked upon with such love
  • in Mark 14:35- Peter, James and John are taken by the Lord..to accompany him in his agony in the garden; '...Going a little farther, he fell to the ground' such was the Lord's agony....and such was  the intimacy he had formed with these disciples that he shares-exposes his deepest anguish with his 'friends'
  • at the last supper, when Peter wanted to know who was going to betray the Lord, he asks John to ask the Lord...- he didnt feel close enough to ask the Lord himself
  • we say 'We are the Church- the Body of Christ'. To serve the Church is to serve the Lord. If we are always conscious of this, then we will interact with each other with a heightened sense of intimacy and respect, the kind we reserve for the Lord in our prayers.
