Thank God for Everything!
Ephesians 5:18b-20
"Instead, let the Holy Spirit fill and control you. Then you will sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, making music to the Lord in your hearts. And you will always give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ" Ephesians 5:18b-20 (NLT).
For me, this passage addresses a very important aspect of the Christian life: Living joyfully. When we are filled with the Spirit of God, we can't help but praise, sing, and thank God for everything—big and small.
When we truly experience God in our lives, we can't help but be happy. Now, that doesn't mean that bad things or sad times won't happen in the Christian life, but it does mean that we always have a hope and that hope cannot be squelched by anything this world throws at us. We may be sad for a time, even Jesus had sad moments in His time here on earth, but a life lived in Christ is a life lived in joy, a life lived in the knowledge that we have a better future—an eternal future with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
What better reason is there to give thanks to God?
