Matt 28 : 19 20 -- go there fore and make disciples of all nations .. an Low i am with you always unto the end of time ..
meaning -- somebody is who is a learner a student . as a Christian -- disciples is to be like Jesus .
disciples goes beyond just learning --- its not enough to know what the bible say -- its abt being like Jesus .
1) we are called to be disciples , we are not called be name sake Christians .. we are not called to be believers,
2 ) disciples are made -- we don't become disciples overnight .. there is time and effort involved .
3) Jesus intends you to make more disciples .
we are becoming disciples and making disciples
5 traits that Jesus would call a disciple .. what would the master say :
1) As a disciple i obey and remain in his Word .-- in John 8 :31 i must be committed in the word of God .if you remain / abide / continue in my word .. its not abt
reading, it abt doing the word . Benefit of abiding in the word . you will know the truth and the truth will set you free. You really become Free
2) walk in love .. John 13:34 -35 a new commandment i give you .. Love one another .. by this all will know you are my disciples .
3) John 15 -- you bear much fruit -- and this is hw you will be disciples . being very fruitful in what you are doing . what is the fruit -- we individually bear fruit - but each
ones fruit is different . He trims off the unnecessary things in our lives .. so that we bear more fruits . You should be praying for increase in all areas of your life .
so that wen you are fruitful your Father is glorified .
4) As a disciple i endeavor to be like Jesus..... Matt : 10: 24-25 luke 6: 40 .. perfect training -- be like in how He related to People . be like Him in every fashion of life .
In the book of acts .. its mention the believers were called disciples .. then were 100% committed to be like Jesus . Paul says , imitate me as i imitate Jesus . 1 john 2: 6** the NT called every disciple to be like Jesus .
5) As a disciple i carry my cross . my cross represent my suffering , separation from the worldly ways . Matt 16: 24** Luke 14: 26 ..33** .. .. If you want to be a disciple -- what he is saying is this -- you whole heart if so devoted to Me -- you will let go of any thing .. separated from the things of this world . you consider it a honor .. to suffer for Christ .. We are living in a city of comport . we live in lot of comfort . the danger is we get so accustomed to comfort , we choose comfort instead of sacrifice , you risk not walking the walk of a disciple . Are we so comfortable in our Christianity
Lets remember these 5 traits and lets walk this Christian Life as disciples .
